If you have ever tried lychee in Europe then you have probably tried Madagascar lychee. Madagascar is the third largest lychee grower in the world (behind India and China) and they supply all of the E.U. When we found out their season is opposite of Asia's lychee season we immediately got some over here!

The Mauritius lychee is incredibly fragrant, juicy and sweet. Pop one open and you'll probably get a nice squirt of lychee juice to the eye.

This variety is called "Mauritius" because the seed originates in Mauritius. So while it is grown in Madagascar it has the name of a neighbouring island. Confusing, we know.

Preparation Ideas: Cut them in half and enjoy the refreshing and floral flavour. Or try something new like covering them in honey, butter and cinnamon and caramelizing them in the oven. Then enjoying them with some ice cream. Or simply on their own.
